Quilt progress catch-up -

No postings since May of 2014!!!  What the heck have I been doing??  I have no excuses, so will attempt a catch-up with my quilting progress.  These are quilt finishes from 2014 and 2015, please forgive but there are a lot of photos.

Our guild (The Uncommon Threads Quilt Guild of Memphis TN) had a challenge to use the characters designed for a new children's hospital in wall quilts for the hospital.  This is the one I came up with.

I think that's most of the quilts that I made, but lots more were pieced by others and just quilted by me.    I'll try to get the 2015 finishes posted and family gathers for 2015 posted before too long.  Happy Quilting!, Sandy

2014 Family catch-up

I'm going to try to finish updating the almost 2 years worth of quilts and family celebrations, so here goes.  I'll start with the family celebrations and handle the quilting in another post......Let's see, my last post was the first part of May 2014, the end of May we celebrated great nephew Max's 4th birthday, here are a couple of pictures of the birthday boy.

Enjoying his birthday cake!

In June we took our "Girl's Trip" - usually the trip included sisters and sister-in-laws (3 sisters, 2 sister-in-laws).  Since my sister Ruth had recently relocated to Norman Oklahoma we decided to visit Oklahoma City.  We included 2 additional folks to our party - Aunt Rosalie, so she could visit with Aunt Alma who had relocated to Oklahoma after the loss of Uncle Sonny and my niece Lena who was feeling a little left out of our preparations.  Here are some of the pictures of the trip.

We dropped Aunt Rosalie at cousin Gail's to spend time with Aunt Alma, then headed to dinner with the gang.  We spent a fun 4 days visited the botanic gardens, the Museum of Modern Art, the Cattlemen's Steakhouse, the dog show, we found a cute cupcake and candy shop next to the train station, visited the canal district.  Here are more pictures from the trip.  We took in the Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Botanic Gardens, the Oklahoma Museum of Modern Art (they had a Dale Chihuly exhibit that was awesome! and Union Station.

Thanks for reading.

Well it's been a while since I posted.  I took a 2 week trip to Albuquerque to visit my friend Linda.  Now usually when we get together we really get crazy productive.  This time not so much.  I ended up with a horrible viral infection and spent most of the time in bed.  We did get out to the Bosque del Apache - here are a couple of pictures.
Bald Eagle

Blue Heron (I think)

We also saw a few hawks and some wild pigs.

Linda had arranged for a gourd decorating class that I didn't want to miss, so here's a  picture of the final results.  There were six of us in the class.

Linda did much more sewing during my visit.  Here's her work in progress.

I worked on assembling a nested blocks quilt for a great niece to replace her baby quilt that was lost in a fire.  and squaring up half square triangles (with a lot of Linda's help).  Thank you Linda.

My previous visit I tried to get roadrunner and crane pictures (outside Linda's front window) with no luck.  This trip the wildlife was abundant.

March and April I worked at the hospital, made a couple of trips to St. Louis for family functions and got some quilting done (one queen size quilt for me and 3 charity quilts),
My Queen Pineapple Blossom

and the three charity quilts

At the end of the month 2 friends and I took a road trip to Paducah for the AQS quilt show, and what a show here are just a few of the lovely quilts we saw.

So now it's May (where has the time gone???) and I leave tomorrow morning for Salt Lake City and the HMQS where I'll meet up with Linda, take some classes and generally have a good time!  I'll try to post more often from now on.

Until then - happy quilting!
